RUN FOR THOSE WHO CAN’T – or volunteer for JMB Foundation

The 2019 Melbourne Marathon Festival is coming to town on Sunday October 13th, and it’s your chance to support JMB Foundation and run for those who can’t.

We’ve been involved with the Melbourne Marathon for twelve years now, fielding teams of supporters running – or walking – to help us to help James Macready-Bryan and many other young people living with acquired brain injury in Australia.

Maybe you’ve been with us all along, or maybe you’re a newcomer to this exciting event. Whatever the case, we warmly welcome your support. You can help us to do what we do by signing up for any one of the five Melbourne Marathon events – full marathon, half marathon, 10 km run, 5 km run, or 3 km walk.

You can help us even more by fundraising for JMB Foundation. Simply select the option to fundraise for JMB Foundation as part of the process of registering for your event (Below left).

Your EverdayHero Fundraising page will be created automatically, so it couldn’t be easier! All you need to do is let your friends, family and colleagues know about the effort you’re making to help young people with acquired brain injuries. They’re sure to want to help you reach your fundraising goal and it’s really easy for them to donate online.

Next, join the JMB Foundation team (click on the JMB Foundation under Team information as above right, when you register). We’ll give you a JMB Foundation singlet or t-shirt to wear on the day, so you’ll be helping to raise awareness.

You can join us as a marathon runner, or a 3 km walker, or anything in between. Or you can help as a volunteer, handing out water at drinks stations or supervising an intersection along the course. There’s something for everyone to do on this day, and everything you do will help. And we can guarantee you that you’ll have a really fun day!

Last year the support we had from our team runners and fundraisers resulted in more than $44,000 that we’ve been able to distribute to young Australians living with acquired brain injury, to help pay for care, therapy, special equipment or community access activities. We know it has made a genuine difference to their comfort and quality of life, and we couldn’t have done it without the efforts of our Melbourne Marathon teams.

This year we want to expand our funding program even further, and we can only do that with the help of our supporters.  So how about it? Register for your event now, and make sure you join the JMB Foundation team and choose to fundraise for JMB Foundation.

If you’ve already registered to run but didn’t do one or either of these, it’s not too late and it’s easily fixed.

If you’d like to fundraise to raise money for JMB Foundation, here’s where you can do it, even after you’ve already registered to run in an event. Every dollar you raise will help us to help young Australians living with ABI.

Fundraising from this event is the cornerstone of JMB Foundation’s grants program, allowing us to help people like Isabelle Cummins and many other young Australians who need our financial assistance. We wish it wasn’t so, but the demand for funds to help these young people access care and therapy is growing. So let’s make our 2019 Medibank Melbourne Marathon Festival our biggest and best yet.
