2016 Medibank Melbourne Marathon Festival

2016 Medibank Melbourne Marathon Festival

RUN FOR THOSE WHO CAN’T – or volunteer for JMB

The 2016 Medibank Melbourne Marathon Festival is coming to town on Sunday October 16th. This is your chance to support JMB and run for those who can’t.

This year’s event marks the 10th anniversary of the reason JMB Foundation exists, and the 10th year that we have fielded teams of supporters running – or walking – to help us to help James Macready-Bryan and other young people living with acquired brain injury in Australia.

We would love you to join our team, for the first time, or the 10th time, or anything in between. As a marathon runner, or a 3 km walker. As a volunteer, handing out water at drinks stations or supervising an intersection along the course. It doesn’t matter what you choose to do, as long as you do it for JMB.  There’s something for everyone to do on this day, and everything you do will help. And we can guarantee you that you’ll have a really fun day!

Last year the support we had from our team runners and fundraisers resulted in $47,500 that we have been able to distribute to James and other young Australians with an acquired brain injury, to help pay for care, therapy, special equipment or community access activities. We know it has made a genuine difference to their comfort and quality of life, and we couldn’t have done it without the efforts of our Melbourne Marathon teams.

If you’re thinking of doing it all over again this year, or giving it a go for the first time, now’s the time to commit, and we would really love to have you on our team in 2016. There are five different events, from the full 42.195 km marathon right down to a 3 km walk.

This year we want to expand our funding program further, and we can only do that with the help of our supporters.  So how about it? Register for your event now, and make sure you join the JMB team. (NB: When you select the JMB team for your event you may be asked for a password, but in fact a password is not required. This is a technical fault with the registration process, which Melbourne Marathon is attempting to resolve. Please leave the password field blank and proceed with your registration.) Once you have registered, you can  create your fundraising page in support of JMB Foundation. Every dollar you raise will help us to help young Australians living with ABI.

Want to support JMB but not keen on running? You can help us by volunteering as a course marshal. We need a few hundred enthusiastic people to keep things in order along the marathon route on the day. If you don’t mind an early start and you want to be part of the action, we can guarantee you’ll enjoy this experience!  More info here

Sign up now – email info@jmbfoundation.org.au to register.

In the meantime, here are a few memories from last year’s Marathon. Everyone who ran or volunteered for JMB had a great day and lots of fun. Don’t miss out in 2016!
