Saturday 20th May brought sunshine and a good win to Carey in the annual football match between Carey and Caulfield Grammar for the JMB Cup. This year Step Back Think donated their signature orange laces for the fundraiser and they were worn by players and many students. Girls wore orange ribbons in their hair courtesy of the Head of Sport at Carey, Paul Jepson. The ground was a sea of orange, with orange balloons everywhere, and the scoreboard and boundary line painted brightly in orange. Step Back Think’s representative Eden Giagnorio, a former Carey student, was thrilled to cheer the team to victory.

The JMB Cup has been running since 2008 as a major fixture in the sports calendar. James Macready-Bryan was a dominant First XVIII player through his final years at school, so the JMB Cup holds special significance.

JMB Foundation board member Richard Harris presented the Cup to Carey First XVIII Captain Charlie Thompson in a room filled with cheering supporters and friends.

It was a great day of fundraising with the sausage sizzle a huge success, and generous donations from many, including the soccer team and Caulfield Grammar School. As always, James and his family enjoyed the day and were pleased to see Carey avenge last year’s loss.
